The History of Motocross in Windhoek and Namibia |
Part 4: 2000 - 2005
Today we look at the years 2000 up to 2005. The Millennium-Race 2000 was one of the highlights in the history of the Inter-Series. The supporting programme alone required a great deal of organisation: cultural dancing-group, Picanini-kiddies-fair, Wet-T-Shirt competition and of course exciting races on both weekends. Main sponsors were again the Namibian Breweries and Shell Namibia.

Motocross 2009 in Retrospect |
The year 2009 was marked by a decline in spectator numbers. The dissatisfactory sponsorship situation must be adressed as well. Another critical point is the recruitment of young talents, since due to a lack of riders the 65cc Class stopped existing this year. Here however, help is already on the way in the form a new track being built at the club house in Olympia, which is suitable for children.

IFMXF FIM World Championships in Windhoek (NAM) - Results |
Steve Mini lights bushfire in Namibia
This was never seen in Namibia. On Saturday 12 FMX athletes of the IFMXF entered the African continent and jumped Windhoek for the NIGHT of the JUMPs into the ground. The air was burning on the FMX parkour at Tony Rust Race Track. Remi Bizouard gambled away in the qualifying and missed the finals. But in the end he could celebrate, as Podmol and Miralles only came up on fourth and fifth position. So the French rider has a lead of 23 points and defended his title.

IFMXF FIM World Championships in Windhoek (NAM) - Preview |
The FIM Freestyle MX World Championships 2009 are close to it’s final decision. On upcoming Saturday the FMX riders will fight for the second last points of the World Cup at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Windhoek/Namibia. Due to the security cancellation of the contests in Zagreb only 40 points are left to collect for the overall ranking. Last years World Champ Remi Bizouard leads with 27/28 points ahead of Jose Miralles and Libor Podmol. If the French rider wins at Tony Rust Race Track, he would defend his title automatic. Should Bizouard end up behind Miralles and Podmol, but looses only 7 or 8 points to them, he still would hold the crown.
