Bikes and birds. Unbelievable action at the Gallina Motocross Park on Saturday. You had to be there to believe it. Rugby on TV wah it just a waste of time. Bikes and birds that’s where the action is.

On Saturday the 12th of June, the Windhoek Motocross Club will be hosting the 4th leg of their MEQcross championship at the Gallina Motocross Park 20 kilometres outside of Windhoek on the Okahandja road.

On Saturday the 22nd of May 2010, SternBau and Bothma Roads sponsored the first ever MEQcross championship at the Gallina Motocross Park. I have never seen such death defying, nerve tingling action before in my life. If you think you’re an adrenaline junkie then this is the sport for you. The Motocross and Quadcross action was spectacular as per usual and then they added Endurocross to spice it up even more.

Hold onto your seats ladies and gentleman , on Saturday the 22nd of May 2010 the Windhoek Motocross Club will host the third leg of the championship at the Gallina Motocross Park., you may think this is just another day in the dirt but take it from me, this dirt bike stuff is amazing.

After a very positive general meeting at the club on Friday night, those present agreed unanimously to incorporate an EnduroX class at the next MX and QX championship meeting to be held at Gallina on the 22nd of May 2010.

When I heard that Obeco and Southey were combining to host the 2nd leg of the MotoX and QuadX championship I knew I’d better go and check it out. I’m glad I did because it turned out to be a Dirt Bike Bonanza of note.

On the 17th of April the 2nd Motocross championship race takes place in Swakopmund. The venue for this major event will be the Coastal Cement Works race track just opposite the salt fields, 10 km outside of Swakopmund on the road to Wlotzkas Baken. The track was prepared by the members of the Namib Offroad Club and is in excellent condition. The participation of MX-specialist Jon Gutteridge from Great Britain is a definitive highlight and gives the race an international flair.

For twelve long months Tommi Gous went without a win due to Björn Bierbrauer's superior riding. However, this past Saturday the tide changed. After two 2nd places during the preliminary heats, Tommi Gous on his new 450cc Yamaha experienced a gread final race. In the "Snyman Transport King of the Dirt", lasting 20 long minutes, Tommi achieved the impossible, winning in style.

The Gallina Moto Cross Park, situated 15 km north, outside of Windhoek on the road towards Okahandja, will host this season's premier race of the 2010 WMCC Moto Cross championships. Snyman Transport generously sponsors the Windhoek Moto Cross Club (WMCC).

The year 2009 was marked by a decline in spectator numbers. The dissatisfactory sponsorship situation must be adressed as well. Another critical point is the recruitment of young talents, since due to a lack of riders the 65cc Class stopped existing this year. Here however, help is already on the way in the form a new track being built at the club house in Olympia, which is suitable for children.
