"BIG-5-Moto Cross Cup" in Gobabis

The MX-bikes were barely rid of the aggressive salty sand from the coast, when they were already moved in an easterly direction: to Gobabis. Messrs Big-5, headed by Wikus Engelbrecht, acts as the main sponsor. Wikus is also the driving force behind the Gobabis Moto Cross Club. According to received information the track was broadened and in front of the spectators terrace a 30m jump was built. The riders enjoy riding in Gobabis, the consistency of the soil is absolutely unique in Namibia.

Ross Branch wins 3rd Wesbank-Trophy in Swakopmund / Excellent results for coastal riders

Who will ever defeat him on Namibian soil? I am talking about the young Moto Cross rider from Botswana: Ross Branch. Ross feels right at home in Namibia and he once again showed that during the 3rd Wesbank- Championships race on the long Easter-weekend in Swakopmund.

"Speed Weekend" in Swakopmund

This year`s Easter-weekend is dedicated wholly to motor sport. On Friday the 6th of April another Wesbank Moto Cross Championships race will be held on the race-track near the salt pans. On Saturday a Rally-event will be held and on Sunday, 8th of March, the Enduro-Working group (WMCC) will host a CTM-Enduro race with start and finish also located on the MX-track at the salt pans.

Branch from Botswana wins 2nd Wesbank-Challenge

The 2nd race of the Namibian Moto Cross Championships took place last Saturday at the Gallina Moto Cross Park, in front of a sparse audience. An explanation for the lack of spectators could be a performance by music star Bok van Blerk in Windhoek the previous night. It was said to be the biggest Boere-Party in 50 years!

After the season's fantastic first race 4 weeks ago, the follow-up race will be held on Saturday, 10th of March, sponsored by Wesbank, an affiliate of First National Bank. The official name of this racing event is WESBANK-Challenge and takes place at the Gallina Moto Cross Park, located 15 kilometres outside of Windhoek, on the road towards Okahandja. The direction to the track is signposted.

Branch wins Wesbank-Trophy

Ross Branch from Botswana came, saw and conquered! With a maximum of 60 points he took the Wesbank-Trophy with him to his home country. This wasn't the only highlight during this season's opening race at the Gallina Moto Cross Park: Exciting races in all classes, strong riders, new (old) faces who taught the up and coming riders a lesson or two, and the great number of spectaors which was very pleasing. They were being offered MX-sport on the highest level.

After a break of 3 months, many MX-riders can't wait to get on their bikes. It's about time for the new Moto-X-season to start! A lot of the riders began with physical exercises again to get rid of the excess kilos from Christmas. On the previous Saturday, the guys met at the Gallina Moto Cross Park and the reigning champion in the Open-Class Ronnie Adams, freely admitted that he is absolutely not fit. "Too many parties", says Ronnie, who will ride for Suzuki-Namibia again in 2007.

01.11.2006 M. Nederlof nominated for the "Namibian Junior Sportsman of the Year"

Matthew Nederlof is the current Namibian 50cc MX Champion, and at the age of 7 Years, the youngest sportsman (in any Sport Code) in Namibian history to be nominated for the "Namibian Junior Sportsman of the Year" award. He is also the only moto-cross rider to have reached the finals for this award.
Although he did not win the award, having to compete against sportsman of up to 20 years old, he caused a stir at the premier gala event and made sure that Moto Cross would get the attention it deserves.
