Yamaha MX Team’s Joshua Coppins (NZL, Yamaha) will make his return this weekend for round 14 of the MX1 world championship held at the Donington circuit in the UK. The 30 year old Kiwi has recovered from his shoulder injury to take up the defense of his 12 points lead over Belgian Steve Ramon (BEL, Suzuki). With 100 points up for grabs the championship will most likely be decided at the last round scheduled at Lierop (NED) the weekend straight after Donington.
The 2006 MX2 World Champion had been transfered from Antrim to Belfast, where he underwent further tests with a well known specialist to learn more about his injury. The exams revealed that he has broken his sacrum, the last bone of the spinal column; it is an "open book" fracture and the doctors are still waiting to decide if he will need surgical reconstrution before rehabilitation.
The thirteenth round of the 2007 Motocross World Champion- ship was a mixed one for Team GPKR, with another good result for Sébastien Pourcel but a bad injury for his brother Christophe. The 2006 MX2 World Champion dislocated his shoulder and has a suspected broken pelvis from a warm-up crash that is likely to put him out of action for the rest of the season.
After winning his second MX2 world championship title last weekend at Moneyglass Demense in Northern Ireland, Antonio Cairoli is gearing up to make his first appearance in MX1 at round 14 of the world championship held at the Donington circuit coming weekend.
Joshua Coppins (NZL, Yamaha) is recovering well from his left shoulder injury sustained at round 11 of the MX1 World Championship held at Loket (CZE) on the 29th of July, but unfortunately his present condition does not permit him to enter the Grand Prix of Northern Ireland held coming weekend at the Moneyglass Demense circuit. Coppins missed the Belgian Grand Prix two weeks ago and now had to decide to cancel his participation in round 13 of the championship as well.
