There was not better scenery than Ernée and no better weather than the sun of Sunday for the final round of the 2006 Motocross season; the lucky ones who witnessed the event were 16.537 spectators who covered the natural theatre of the Raymond Demy Circuit.

Yves Demaria wins the MX3 World Championship

Under a sunny sky, the last race of the MX3 World Championship in Roggenburg was important for two riders today. First for Yves Demaria (FRA, KTM): at the end of the MX3 series he finally grasped the World Title he lost in 2005 and snatched number one from Team mate Sven Breugelmans (BEL, KTM), winner of the MX3 Motocross World Championship last year. But also Marc Ristori (SUI, Honda) had a superb day on his home track, winning both motos and securing his fourth place in the World Championship standings right in front of his fans.

04.09.2006 MX World Championship - Grand Prix of Netherlands in Lierop (NED)

33135 people were in Lierop this weekend for the Motocross World Championship, ending into a rainy but spectacular Sunday. Having locked the Championship in Namur, Stefan Everts (BEL, Yamaha) next goal was grasping the 100 win record. He tried in Desertmartin but CAS Honda rider Joshua Coppins (NZL: Honda) crashed the party. Everts already said that Lierop would have been a tough race and so it was. Especially for his rivals trying to stop him but without succeeding in their mission. Yamaha factory rider Everts brought his YZ450FM to victory in both motos and actually dominated from the first lap of each moto.

It was one of those days that will never be forgotten and 18.243 lucky spectators could enjoy such enthralling weekend in Northern Ireland. The weather conditions were quite changeable all day with showers and sunshine playing host to Joshua Coppins’ (NZL, Honda) and Tyla Rattray’s (RSA, KTM) win celebrations.

Kawasaki Racing Team have now completed their motocross line-up for their assault on the 2007 FIM MX1 World Championships with the signing of twenty year old Billy MacKenzie (GBR) who has agreed terms for a one year deal, riding for the Dutch based factory team of Jan De Groot.
