World Championship: GP of Republic of South Africa in Sun City (RSA)
Attached news was received by the WMCC yesterday, Thursday March 6th.:
Dear WMCC Committee,
As you may be aware, the FIM has allocated the AMU wild card entries for the Grand Prix at Sun City this year. The AMU has decided to allocate 1 x entry for the MX1 Class and 1 x entry for the MX2 Class for every country affiliated to the AMU. Various conditions were stipulated to be adhered to when selecting the riders.
At the motocross commission meeting on Tuesday night, it was decided that Tommy Gous would be allocated the MX1 entry. For the MX2 class there was a dilemma. The three MX2 class riders in Namibia were judged to be too young as the 2005 regulations stipulated a minimum age of 16 years. As the NMSF had not received new Regulations from the FIM, I have down loaded the 2006 Regulations from the internet site of the FIM. I have now seen that the age in the MX2 class has been changed to 15 years which I have now also confirmed with the AMU Council.
Therefore, the AMU allocations will be the following:
MX1 – Tommy Gous
MX2 – Brannigan Wise
MX2 Reserve – Alexander Howard.
First of all, please let me congratulate you all and hope that you will make the best possible use of this opportunity. The AMU has allocated these rides for development purposes and is of utmost importance that the best is derived from this opportunity.
PLEASE NOTE:
The entry to such an event is subject to very high expenses. It is therefore that I need from every nominated rider to confirm in writing the acceptance of their entry within 7 days hereof.
Regards
Michael Nederlof
AMU MX Working Group Chairman
Tommy Gous (NAM, Yamaha)
Brannigan "Animal" Wise (NAM, KTM)
We congratulate all riders concerned and wish good luck.
