Hennie Visser MX Championship on Gallina

It is time once again for the screeching two-strokes and roaring four-stroke engines on Saturday the 15th of August at the Gallina Moto Cross Park. Pure adrenalin is guaranteed! Moto Cross is an action sport for the whole family and with the rising day temperatures Gallina is just the place to be. This well-known race track is situated 15km outside of Windhoek, on the road towards Okahandja. Patron of the event is Hennie Visser, who installed a whole new electrical infrastructure free of charge on Gallina, prior to the AMU-Championships.
Not too long ago, I deplored the fact that the 50cc Kindergarden Class evidently stopped existing. Now however I can announce the arrival of five new kids who devote themselves to the sport, training almost daily on the club-owned premises in Olympia. They will have their debut this coming Saturday.
Björn Bierbrauer

But all eyes will be fixed on the riders of the joint MX1/MX2 Class. Here Björn Bierbrauer rides on his fast Honda and is the favourite at the starting gate.Tommy Gous spent many training hours on his new two-stroke Yamaha and should by now be well accustomed to his bike. People knowing the scene proclaim he will be the big challenger for Bierbrauer. One who attracted attention with his enormous will to fight was Alexander Howard at the previous race. This guy had a real performance boost.
Frank Klosta

Frank Klosta on his KTM gets quicker in every race and the same goes for Jaco Loots on a Suzuki, who, although being the youngest, established himself already in this top-group. Ronnie Adams on his green Kawasaki will try his very best despite a ligament rupture in his knee. Animal Wise is also part of the action but is not easy to judge due to his significant training deficit. Henry O’Kennedy is always in the leading pack, along with Ruhan Gous, Jose Teixeira and Tony Viljoen, just to name the quickest. These MX protagonists offer two excing preliminary races as well as the all-deciding “Hennie Visser King of the Dirt”, the highlight of the day.

Among the kids in the MX65Class Matthew Nederlof is the favourite and Michael Barlow and Jay-Em Tredoux will battle it out for second place.
In the MX-Lites Class (former 85cc Class) Pauli Loots finished 1st place during the previous race. It will be exciting to see whether he can repeat the trick. Tristan Muller and Mark Sternagel won’t make life easy for him, that’s for sure.
The Clubmen’s Class does not ride for “national honour”, it is a pure beginners class which is however very popular among the spectators. These guys always fight till they drop. Jean Pierre Hugo is so fast he could easily end up in the MX2 Class! Pauli Loots also rides in this class and lands on the podium almost every time. Pauli fights against Wiehan Kohne for 2nd place.

The wild 4-Wheelers are there too of course and they are very popular with the crowd. In the combined Quads-A-and-B-Class we have the protagonists of the Quad riders. The organiser expects the usual handlebar-banging between Michael Behnke on his Honda and Jean Venter on a KTM. We also expect the young Angolan Fabio Ferreira in this leading group, as well as Stephan Smidt (Suzuki), Wolfgang Röhl (Polaris) and of course Ecki Spoerer. There are however a handful of riders also good for a Top-5 placement. Tons of excitement is guaranteed when it comes to the highlight, the “King of the Quads”.
Of course the girls and woman in the Ladies-Quads Class are part of the fun as well. Charney Joubert is still the measure of all things but has to reckon with hard resistance by Anneke Steenkamp and Cee-Anne Greyling. Then we have the Bochert-sisters, Celene Adams and maybe even Mandy Huysamen who has had lack of training due to an injury. If enough participants show up, a Quads-C and Clubmen’s Class will also be set up.
Food and beverages will be available in the beer.barn and after the prizegiving ceremony the notorious Jägermeister-Party will take place with DJ Coco. Once again a highlight for Windhoek’s youth. So make a note of the 6th Moto Cross Championship race on 15th of August at the Galina Moto Cross Park.
