Goodness gracious great balls of fire!
Bikes and birds. Unbelievable action at the Gallina Motocross Park on Saturday. You had to be there to believe it. Rugby on TV wah it just a waste of time. Bikes and birds that’s where the action is.
Let me wet your appetite. Tristan Muller races to victory in the MXLites Class. He is followed home by Pauli Loots, Joshua Texeira, in forth it was up and coming Michael Barlow and even though he has only just started MX, in fifth place a flying young Lee Brown. I’m telling you these young fighter pilots have a great future in front of them.

The Clubmans class is a mixture of youth and experience. The experience it would seem however comes from years of foolishness. And I’m not sure all of the foolishness has gone. These guys must have huge life insurance policies. Although there were no actual injuries I’m sure there were some brokers out there that have no nails left. Schalk Louw won the class with Jose Texeira in second and Tony Viljoen in third.
The MX2 250 class was a tight affair with Ruhan Gous scraping home by 1 point more than Jaco Loots and Henry O’Kennedy.

In the MX1 450 class Björn Bierbrauer came back from a short vacation to show he had lost none of his speed by winning the class followed by Tommi Gous and JP Hugo. Björn also won the King of the Dirt; Tommi was second with Ruhan Gous in third.

Jaco Snyman dominated the Quad A class and easily won with a slightly injured Gogga van Wyk in second and Jandre Augustyn in third. Jaques Snyman lead Shannon Rowland, Lothario van Wyk and Lian Brown home in the Quad C class.

And now for the main event. Thousands of spectators queued for hours to watch the Ladies Quad class action. And they weren’t disappointed. Those of you that stayed at home are more disappointed believe me. These Birds on Bikes put life into perspective. They get your juices flowing. These chicks are so fast I couldn’t take photos. There’s just no time to focus. Anneke Steenkamp won the class ahead of Maike Bochert, Celine Adams and Yana de Jesus.

As I promised the Endurocross class is going from strength to strength. The Bike section was won by Bjorn Bierbrauer, Jose Texeira and Dave Brown and the Quad section was won by Jandre Augustyn, Lothario van Wyk and Jaco Snyman. Unfortunately Henner Rusch broke his leg in the low flying action but he was expertly cared for by the ever present EMed Rescue Team.
Thanks for a great day of action. The Windhoek Motocross Club really knows how to turn it on. Don’t miss the next event coming up on the 10th of July in Gobabis. Yes it’s back to Cattle Country, back to the elephant’s water hole and some more unbelievable dirt bike action.
