Watch Out Cattle Country here we come!
That's right; the Windhoek Motocross Club will be hosting its 5th Championship round of Moto and Quad Cross at the Elephant's Drinking Hole on Saturday the 10th of July 2010 in Gobabis. For the 1st time in 3 years the sport will return to the Eastern capital of Namibia for the locals to enjoy the thrills and spills of this death defying sport.
On the initiative of Erni's Bistro the Gobabis Business Forum have decided to invite the motocross and quadcross daredevils from all over Namibia, to come and liven things up in the East. This is a great business decision by the Business Forum as it will generate huge capital for all the local businesses.
All the top Namibian riders will be present. These include Jaco Snyman and Gogo van Wyk in the men's quads, Jaco is running away with the championship at this stage but I’m sure Gogo has other ideas. The ladies quads are always a huge spectator pleaser and I don't think Celine Adams, Anneke Steenkamp, Maike Bochert or Mandy Huysamen will want to let anyone down.
In the MXLites bike category you can watch out for a fierce battle between Tristan Muller, who is currently the leader in the championship, and Pauli Loots who will do anything to get on top of the podium. But the likes of Joshua Texeira, Michael Barlow and Lee Brown will be chomping at their heals. Hopefully Lian Mostert from the coast will be able to make the trip.
The Clubmans class including riders like Schalk Louw, Jose Texeira, Tony Viljoen and Billy Heigan along with some other riders and also Tristan and Pauli, who join them from the MXLites class, will cater for some exiting action.
In the senior MX1 - 450cc and the MX2 - 250cc class look out for riders like Bjorn Bierbrauer, Tommi Gous, Henry O'Kennedy and Ruhan Gous will be gunning for position. Ruhan surprised all and sundry in the last event with a fantastic display of fine riding. Hopefully Animal Wise will also make his return to racing after been out because of injury for almost 2 months. But his fitness will be questionable.
The bar bashing, fender bending action doesn’t end at the track. After the dust settles and the trophies have been handed out, the business community and locals of Gobabis will treat you to their unique friendly and generous hospitality.
