MX-Action in Olympia suburb
There is joodling of soccer-fans, barking dogs at the dog training camp and the screaming from the indoor-hockey team, now there is a new sound…the roaring of 450cc motocross bikes can be heard on 23rd of october at the old softballfield, opposite the municipal swimming-pool. Here the WMCC (Windhoek Moto Cross Club) is staging its first Moto-X Championship event to be held in Olympia. With the aid of the building industrie who supplied earthmoving machinery, the WMCC established a new motocross track.
The opening of this new venue, called Adrenalin-Park, will also attract the Pack-brothers all the way from Germany, and from South Africa the WMCC expects the 2009 and 2010 Quad Champion Dierkie Baard. This youngster hails from Walvis-Bay and in the moment he’s the meassure of quad-things in South Africa, be it Offroad or Quad-MX.
The protagonists on two wheels meet in the combined Radiowave 96,7fm MX1/MX2 Class. Namibia’s very best mx-riders converge at the all new Adrenalin-Park, riders like Björn Bierbrauer. Björn spent two years racing in Germany which pays dividents now being back on home turf. He’s riding very smooth on his Muxima-Honda. His biggest rival, riding for Novel-Yamaha, is Tommy Gous, who lately had to swollow defeat but also experienced technical problems. For Tommy it means he has to win all three heats in order to keep his chances open to win the Championship. A very tough situation. Brannigan “Animal”Wise is on the right track to win the MX2 Class, three 2nd places on his Muxima-Honda at the last race at Gallina Motocross Park boost confidence. Ruhan Gous, another rider prefering the Honda brand, becomes a “regular” on the rostrum, he should be voted Rookie of the Year! Jaco Loots was off sick at the last race and is brimming to collect valuable points on his Suzuki-Namibia. The Kawasaki brand will be represented by multiple-champion Ronnie Adams who’s suffering from loss of stamina, but with his experience in uncountable mx-battles he’s still capable to jump the podium. Mark Sternagel, half the age of Ronny is the youngest rider in this field, trusting his blue Sternbau-Yamaha. Another rider to look out for is Jean-Pierre Hugo. This constellation of riders promises adrenalin-pumping action in this category.
In the Bike & Quad Clinic MX-Lites Class it is Tristan Muller who leaves his mark as winner throughout the year. Tristan is of such talent that his father lets him race now and then in the MX2 class, in order that his youngster gets used to the high speed in this category. Tristan’s main opposition comes from Pauli Loots who lately stays clued to the backwheel of Tristan. Pauli usually settles for second with the compensation that he does the death-defying jumps in style. Joshua Teixeira becomes a regular on the rostrum leaving little Michael Barlow and Kenny Grobler to battle it out for fourth.
Hot racing can be expected in the Honda-Muxima Clubmen’s Class. The sponsor of this Class, Jose Teixeira, who hails from Angola, is the man to watch for. Lately the “ol’ man” had to swollow heat-defeats by young Schalk Louw from Swakopmund. But Jose will turn the tide, he has practised a lot lately to make shure to win the race that he’s sponsoring. But there are a handfull of riders that can make it onto the rostrum as well, riders like Ben Visser, Pauli Loots (starting in two categories), Frank Steyn or Tony Viljoen to name but a few. And we may not forget the appearance of the Pack-Brothers from Germany.
All previously mentioned riders meet at the all-deciding highlight of the day, the ANKERDATA King of the Dirt race. Power-action guaranteed!
WMCC offers also a Kindergarten-Class, the Bike & Quad Clinic 50cc Class. At the same day the WMCC offers a category for the Red Square Weekend Warriors, those youngsters that usually see the suburbs as a playground for their bikes and quads. Together with the City-Police the WMCC would like to channel their activities to the Adrenalin Park, where they can show their stamina in a ruled fashion. All Weekend-Warriors are invited to join this funfilled afternoon at the Adrenalin-Park. Invited are also riders that are part of the mx-history of the past 35 years of WMCC existence. Some members of the BMW-Club show interest to move their heavy Boxers around the track. No easy task, for sure!
They are not forgotten, the riders of the various quads-classes. Ladies first: In the Propshaft Quads-Ladies Class the sport on offer is of the highest note. One question remains, who can beat Anneke Steenkamp? Maike Bochert is definitely a hot contender so are Celene Adams and Yana de Jesus. Together with the ladies “the young and wild” riders of the Caterhire Quad-C-Class get started together. Here we find plenty of talents, riders like Jaques Snyman, Katelynne Liebenberg or Shannon Rowland, to name but a few.
The protagonists of quad-racing are found in the Jägermeister-Quad-A Class. South Africa’s Superstar, the reigning Champ and champ of the previous year 2009, Dirkie Baard will challenge his compatriots from Namibia Michael Behnke, young Ecki Spoerer, Jaco Snyman, Gogga van Wyk or Gary Rowland. All mentioned riders are experienced, super fast and all of them have smelled the sweet taste of victory. Expect some fourwheeler action that leaves you breathless!
But that is not all, after the action in the sand of Adrenalin-Park, the WMCC invites you to the Jägermeister Summer-Party. In the big beertent , supplied by Namibia Breweries, you can dance the hot summernight away to the tunes of a live-band and the hot discs of DJ CoCo.
