Steel Force Motocross Cup in Olympia

It's that time of the year again! The Moto Cross season starts off on Saturday, 26th March on the new race track in Olympia, situated beneath the public swimming pool. Due to the municipality's unbureaucratic permission and with the support of the Windhoek City Police, it is possible to host this race in Olympia. Messrs Steel Force cc. greatly supports this 1st WMCC (Windhoek Moto Cross Club) Championship race.

The owner and manager of the company Günther Henle, active motorbike rider himself, is pleased with the new track in Olympia. "We have here a motor sport club which never had bad publicity, who, for over ten years has hosted the biggest MX-event - the 'Inter-Series' - on the African continent. We want to support the club even in difficult times and lead it to new heights. The first important step was the relocation from Gallina to Olympia," said Günther Henle while presenting the cheque. Steel Force also provided the club with a frontendloader free of charge which will be used by track construction specialist Ronnie Adams on the new track.

There will be 4 different classes which will all offer exciting races. In the spotlight we have as always the combined MX1 and MX2 Class, the so called protagonists of the sport. Spectators anticipate the performance by present champion Björn Bierbrauer, who however resides in Pretoria/SA for his studies. According to unconfirmed sources a generous sponsor was found who organised a flight for Bierbrauer to his home country.
Tommy Gous

The organiser expects ex-champion and reigning vice-champion Tommy Gous on his fast Yamaha in the lead. Ronnie Adams who has been champion several times in the past 20 years, is set on earning his laurels, despite the tough young competition from the likes of Honda Muxima Team Brannigan Animal Wise, Henry O'Kennedy and Ruhan Gous as well as Rudolf Steyn and Ben Visser and of cours Jaco Loots on his fast Suzuki. The oldest participant and team leader of the Honda-Muxima Team, the 45 year old Angolan Jose Teixeira, will want to be a part of the leading pack. In this Class spectators can expect very tough races and battles for every single point as the winner gets the great "Steel Force Trophy".
Pauli Loots

As always the juniors also get their chance to prove their skills. Here we have first and foremost Tristan Muller, the reigning junior champion in the MX-Lites Class. Like in previous years he will most likely get chased through the parcours by Pauli Loots, Bubba Kasera, Enrico Malan, Leonel Gentil, Joshua Teixeira, Marcel Henle, and our great talent from Swakopmund Matthew Nederlof. This class presents itself as strong as never before. Exciting races are guaranteed.
Pascal Henle

Another class which sticks out due to usually very large field of starters is the so called beginners class, the Clubmen's Class. Here we have Schalk Louw from Swakopmund as well as Tony Viljoen from Windhoek as favourites. When the gate drops, these two battle it out to the bitter end. New to this class is Pascal Henle, who caught the spectators attention in the previous year through his fast racing style. He will meet strong opposition in the form of Billy Heigan and Wiehan Kohne, to name just two.
Ecki Spoerer

A real magnet is the Quads Senior Class. Here the protagonists are Michael Behnke from Walvisbay as well as 14-year old! Ecki Spoerer from Tsumeb. It will be spectacular to watch these guys race. Apart from them there will be past champion Fanie Steenkamp who had to take a break from the sport for a couple of years due to a complicated leg fracture. It will be exciting to witness his comeback. The fast women Celine Adams, Maike Bochert and Melody Loots want to try their luck also in the Quads Senior Class this year. What a constellation for the spectators!
The organiser has food and beverages in the club-owned beer barn and the races will start off at 12:00 o'clock. Entrance fee is N,00. We invite all MX and motor sport fans to the "Steel Force Moto Cross Cup" on the 26th of March in Olympia.
