Moto Cross Inter-Series 2008: Red Square - Team Great Britain
For the second time we can welcome a Briton to the Namibian Inter-Series, namely Elliot Banks-Browne. Older MX-fans might remember the legendary John Banks, who won the British Championships four times during his illustrious career. He was even vice world-champion once. He is none other than Elliot’s grandfather!
Elliot Banks-Browne was born on the 2nd of February 1990 in Bury St. Edmunds (Suffolk). Grandfather, father and uncle took young Elliot under their wings and it just came naturally that Elliot started his MX-career at the tender age of three. In 2002 he became Norfolk and Suffolk champion in the 85cc class. In 2003 he ranked 7th in the 85cc (Kleinrad) BYMX championships and in the following year he ranked 8th in the BYMX 85cc (Großrad) championships.
In 2005 he had a major breakthrough when he won the BSMA-championship title in the 125cc class; an achievement to be rightfully proud of. In the same year he took part in the British Championships for the first time and achieved an excellent 8th place at Matchams Park. In 2006 he ranked 16th at the British Championships and in the ongoing season 2008 he came overall 6th. An excellent achievement, honoured with a contract by Bodo Schmith from the TEKA Suzuki team. During his first appearance for the Bodo Schmidt team, at the ADAC MX-Masters in Teutschenthal at the beginning of October, Elliot made a good 13th place.
