Four in a Row for Henner Rusch and Pupkewitz Honda at the Fourth Leg of the Namibian National Enduro Series at Farm Omakwara
On Saturday 6 June, the Windhoek Motor-Cross Club staged the fourth Motorcycle Enduro racing event for 2009 at Farm Omakwara - situated in the Witvlei district.
The race got underway with forty seven competitors in dry and dusty conditions. Competitors needed to complete four laps of fifty one kilometres and the support classes three laps. Competitors started off with one minute intervals for the dust and per championship standings. A challenging and sandy route was laid out by the organisers with some rocky sections incorporated on the national bike splits. The route ran by the refuel area half way and provided the spectators with a great view of the action.
Honda Windhoek, the main sponsor of the event, were again not disappointed by their team’s performance - with Henner Rusch taking his fourth straight win for the year. His team mate Heiko Hennes brought his Honda CRF 450 home second. Phillip van der Merwe - the dealer principal - commented that "this is a clear example of the reliability of the machines and the talent of the team riders".
The open class was won by Henner Rusch, with Heiko Hennes taking second place on a Honda CRF 450. Ingo Waldschmidt took third place on a KTM 300. Eckhard Waldschmidt on a KTM 250F won the 200 class, followed by won by Jörn Greiter in second place on a KTM 200. Therald Murch on a Honda CRF 250X was placed third.
The National Quad class was won by Jean Venter on a KTM, with Tammo Phiel taking second on a Yamaha. Maike Bochert on her Suzuki won the Ladies Quad class and she was followed by Bollie Bochert in second - also on a Suzuki.
