03.03.2010 First NMSF Bank Windhoek National Enduro Series for 2010
The Windhoek Motor Club is staging the first of seven Motorcycle Enduro racing events for 2010 on 6th March. This event will be followed-up by six more events in the NMSF Bank Windhoek National Enduro Championship for 2009.
The event of 6th March will be held at Farm Kanona in the Omaruru district, with the service and spectator area at the farm itself. This arrangement will ensure maximum excitement and convenience for the spectators as it is situated between Omaruru and Karibib on the C33 tar road. Sponsors for the day will be Penny Pinchers/ Timber City alongside the series sponsor Bank Windhoek.
Last year’s champion Henner Rush will be out to defend his title and fly the flag for Honda and tight racing is expected with Ingo Waldschmidt KTM returning from injury. Others in the class 2 battle to look out for is Honda team mate Heiko Hennes. The battle in Class 1 is set to hot up with a few of the support class riders from last year stepping up to challenge the experienced campaigners like Eckhard Waldschmidt KTM for the class honours. In the Ladies Quad class Maike Bochert will be the target of the other competitors after she cleaned up in last year’s series. One of the other classes, namely the Support class, was created to accommodate first-time riders and those who would like to try their hand at this great sport. Following the rule changes suggested last year another class has been added to this year’s championship, although not a national class yet the master’s class is there for the older guys to come and enjoy the racing and only have to complete 75% of the route to qualify as a finisher.
This coming event will start at 08:00 on 6 March and will continue to 16:00, with the prize-giving ceremony scheduled for 19:00 at the Omaruru MX track.
The seven classes which will be contested are two National Bike Classes, one National Quad Class, one National Ladies Quad Class and two Support Classes for bikes and quads respectively along with the new master’s class.
The public is invited to this event and for more information Heiko Hennes can be contacted at 0811286289.
