Saturday 24th June saw the 1st Regional held at Melkbosstrand this season. The combined 85 Promini and 85 Jnr was action packed with 24 riders at the starting grid. With the new start which has a tight corner to the left we saw some nasty crashes in both 85 races.

First race it was 5 riders crashing in T1 which included both Pajewski Brothers, Calvin Vlaanderen and 2 of the Promini riders. All three toprated 85 Jnr riders had to chase after the leaders which had nearly completed their first lap by the time the youngster got away. Daniel got up the quickest, followed by Erhard and then Calvin. Daniel managed to finish in 4th and Erhard close behind in 5th after some really exciting overtaking maneuvers.

Second heat started with another bang this time involving Damon Vlaandereen, Caleb Tenant, Bernard Haupt and 2 other riders, Daniel Pajewski took the holeshot but was then before T2 overtaken by Adriano Pullinckx. Daniel was pushing real hard and then crashed in lap 2. While trying to overtake Adriano through the whoops. This crash cost him 5 position.

Into the lead for 85Jnr went Calvin Vlaanderen who was being chased down by Erhard Pajewski. Who only managed to get through T2 in 9th spot. Erhard put down a real good fight and actually worked his way to the front to finish 2nd in the 85Jnr and 4th in the combined class. Daniel and Caleb Tenant closed in on the leaders in tandem and finished in Daniel 4th Caleb 5th.

Erhard is now still lying in 2nd place three points behind the leader Calvin Vlaanderen in the Western Cape Regional Cahmpionships. Daniel is lying in P4 but as everyone that knows Daniel will agree, he will not give up on P1 until the last race in this season.
