25.07.2006 News from Björn Bierbrauer from Germany

FIRST WIN IN GERMANY

This weekend was another good one for me and my awesomely prepared Suzuki sponsored by Suzuki Int. Europe GmbH. I raced the Baden-Würtemberg Cup in Rudersberg, my home track. The track was perfectly prepped with no bumps and it was quite soft at the top so nice berms formed after practice.
Class 4 podium: 1st. Björn Bierbrauer (NAM, Suzuki),
2nd. Dennis Ullrich (GER, Suzuki), 3rd. Jan Osswald (GER, Honda)

First practice was good, especially after I had a good pace and put up the fastest lap time and a personal best time for me on the track.
Second practice wasn’t that good because it rained just before we had to ride and the first few laps were extremely slippery and a lot of us crashed, including me. Luckily nothing happened and I found my pace at the end of the practice again when it was less slippery.
The first race started good for me as I had the hole shot and I could hold this position till the end of the race. THIS IS MY FIRST WIN IN GERMANY. I had to push a little bit at the beginning, but after about half the race I had a 20 meter lead in front of Dennis Ulrich (Team Suzuki Kurz) and I could relax a little bit until the chequered flag. In the next race Dennis had the hole shot, but I was right behind him and passed him in the second corner when his front wheel slipped away and he almost crashed. Now racing got exciting and I really had to fight for my position. During the race Dennis and I touched several times, but then in third last lap the lappers came to my advantage and this gave me a chance to pull a small gap. This came just in time because I started getting arm pumps from the new 'unknown' high speeds I raced and so I could relax a little bit. I then crossed the finish line in first position and this meant I won the day with maximum points. I am getting more and more confidence as I have now repeatedly shown that I have my old (Namibian) speed even on hard pack.
