12.03.2007 Press Release ZENNER RACING Team
This past weekend, the second round of the Namibian Championship was held at Gallina track in Windhoek. The weekend did not exactly go as planned, but at least Matthew scored some valuable championship points.
Last Tuesday, while practicing, Matthew had a tremendous hard fall after landing sideways after a long table top jump. He badly injured three fingers in his right hand which we initially thought we broken, but x-rays showed the bones to be badly bruised. Until Friday night, Matthew could still not close his right hand and we left the decision whether to race or not on Saturday, up to him.
In practice on Saturday morning, it was apparent that the hand was hurting badly, but he still insisted to race that day.
The starts on the clutch operated bike are still not quiet sorted, and in the first heat he was last of the gate. He was fast however and within the first half of the lap had moved up to third place. He was able to hold that position for about 10 minutes before being passed and falling back to fourth. By now he was only holding on to the throttle with his thumb but was able to finish the race in 4th.
The second heat went exactly as the first, except that by now the track had really broken up badly and holding on to the handlebars was really a painful task for Matthew.
The start in the third heat was a lot better and he was able to round the first corner in second. He could not hold on to that position for long and dropped back to fourth. He also had a bad fall on a fast straight not being able to hold on to the bike in the rough conditions. Still, he finished this heat in 4th and finished the day in overall 4th place and I take my hat off to him for even completing all three heats.

News about Tommy:

They have now received their test bikes, but have not been able to ride too often as it has been raining most of the time. He has been working hard however and he is extremely excited about the knowledge he is gaining with regards to motocross suspension.
Thanks to all that supports us, it is greatly appreciated.
