Erhard wins the season opener heat in the Promini - 2007 Western Cape Regional Championship held at Melkbos this past Saturday.

Practise started early morning with a overcastted coastal weather, perfect for racing. Erhard’s "Johnson’s Yamaha" is now sorted as you could see during practise when he caught with the riders in front of him running quit a good pace, not as slow as at the last race at Killarney.

1st heat started off with Caleb Tenant in P1 – Erhard very close in P2 and Matt Geldenhuys P3. In the first lap though during a fierce battle Matt went down and got seriously injured preventing him from further racing for the day. Erhard takes over the lead and runs a perfect race leading all but the first lap.

2nd heat has again got Caleb in P1 and Erhard in P2, Erhard pushes real hard only to go down in lap 2 when he is side by side with Caleb. Erhard falls right to the back, but with some awesome racing and spectacular overtaking in a 25 Riders class he takes P2 as his time runs out while catching up to Caleb on his fast 4-Stroke.

3rd heat finally gets Erhard in P1 at the start closely followed by Caleb who manages to get the better line trough turn 2 and passes Erhard. Erhard fights very hard and spectators are getting top notch racing with Erhard side by side with Caleb various times in the first 3 laps until Erhard makes a fatal mistake and crashes as he passes Caleb over the far south speed jump. Again Erhard finds him self far back in the race chasing down each and everyone. He passes all riders in front of him until he’s back in P2, unfortunately time runs out and he has to be satisfied with a hard fought 2nd Place and some injured bodyparts.
