please note that Mike has a compression fracture of the 7th vertebrae in his throrax (lower chest) part of his back - it is the same kind of fracture that Fanie Steenkamp had when he fell with his 4wheeler...
He will be fine but must stay in bed for a while and most probably wear a back brace for a few months. Remember how Fanie walked around with the brace for a few months.
Mike sounds very cheerful this morning and he told me that his chest is also feeling a lot better.
Please all go and visit him - remember that he will need some cheering up after a few weeks, so don't all rush there all at once, the support will be needed further along the line, the longer he takes to heal the more morbid/lonely he will get.
I trust that he will be discharged in a few days and will then stay with the Garbers' family untill he is completely mobile.
