04.09.2006 MX3 World Championship in Roggenburg (SUI)

Yves Demaria wins the MX3 World Championship

Under a sunny sky, the last race of the MX3 World Championship in Roggenburg was important for two riders today. First for Yves Demaria (FRA, KTM): at the end of the MX3 series he finally grasped the World Title he lost in 2005 and snatched number one from Team mate Sven Breugelmans (BEL, KTM), winner of the MX3 Motocross World Championship last year. But also Marc Ristori (SUI, Honda) had a superb day on his home track, winning both motos and securing his fourth place in the World Championship standings right in front of his fans.

Sven Breugelmans lost the Title and finished the 2006 season with second place in the MX3 World Championship standings. He was second also in the overall classification of the Grand Prix: the Belgian grasped two second place finishes in the last 2 heats of the season.
Czech Martin Zerava (CZE, Honda) was third with his Honda and right behind him there was new World Champion Yves Demaria. Demaria finished the first moto in third place and was fifth in the second one.
Yamaha rider Saso Kragelj (SLO, Yamaha) completed the top five in the overall classification while Honda Martin-Max Team rider Christian Beggi (ITA, Honda), who finished the Championship with the third place, was seventh in the first moto and did not finish the second one because of a crash.
The top five of the 2006 MX3 Motocross World Championship ended with Italian Enrico Oddenino (ITA, Honda). The Honda rider was 8th in today’s Grand Prix thanks to a twelfth and a sixth place in the two heats.
