Joshua Coppins wins again in Valence

Winner last year, Joshua Coppins (NZL, Yamaha) won again yesterday the International Motocross of Valence, second main motocross race of the season. Only eighth in the timed practice session, Joshua got two holeshot in the first races, and started the third moto in second position behind Julien Bill (SUI, Honda). Josh had to give his best to celebrate his second win of the season after Montevarchi, as he got serious opposition from Sébastien Pourcel (FRA, Kawasaki) and Steve Ramon (BEL, Suzuki).

Josh got the holsehot in the first race, but Pourcel came back from the fourth place and passed him after six laps. As he did last week in Montevarchi, Josh looked the lines of his rival and passed him back three laps before the end of the race. Maximilian Nagl (GER, KTM) was the third man of the race, followed by Ramon and De Dycker (BEL, Suzuki). The blue Yamaha was again leading the pack at the second start, followed by Bill and Pourcel. The Frenchman came second but did a mistake at mid race, and had to battle with Ramon to keep his position. Coppins won more easily than in the first race, followed by Pourcel and Ramon. Bill got the last holeshot of the day and led the race for six laps; then Coppins passed him and had to resist to Ramon assaults! Steve finieshed second, followed by Pourcel, Nagl and Bill.

In the MX2 class Tyla Rattray (RSA), KTM) was the strongest today, and won twice the class while Tommy Searle (GBR, KTM) got the last win. Tommy crashed during the second heat but recovered promptly, and the two factory KTM were the more regular of the MX2 riders as no other rider was able to finish in the top fifteen of the three races.

Josh: "It was a good day, I had three good start and had some fun on the bike. I had some nice racing with Steve and Sébastien, it's always good to battle with your rivals of the World Championship as you can see how is your condition and your bike compare to your rivals. The track was good, the club did a really good job during the week-end with a good watering, and the conditions were the best I had ever seen since I come to Valence. The only problem is that now I have some pain in my left shoulder, I will have a check in on tuesday to know exactly what is the problem?"
